International Landmark

Panama Canal Expansion
Inauguration Plaque

Panama Canal Authority — Republic of Panama

When the Panama Canal Authority needed a dedication plaque for the inauguration of one of the largest infrastructure projects in modern history — the $5.25 billion expansion of the Panama Canal — they chose Innovative Signs.

The plaque needed to represent all 12 trades and professions involved in the expansion: engineers, welders, divers, operators, laborers, and project managers from multiple countries. The design had to carry institutional weight appropriate for a ceremony attended by heads of state and international dignitaries, while remaining legible and visually balanced at a monumental scale.

Our designers built the layout from scratch — no template could have accommodated the complexity of representing 12 distinct professional groups on a single surface at this scale. The finished plaque was machined to exact specification, reviewed at every stage, and delivered to the Panama Canal Authority in time for the inauguration ceremony.

University Dedication

Jack Crystal Theater
NYU Tisch School of the Arts

New York University — New York, NY

New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts commissioned Innovative Signs to produce the dedication plaque for the Jack Crystal Theater — a memorial to Jack Crystal unveiled by his son, Billy Crystal.

The plaque required a custom Art Deco aesthetic to complement the theater’s architectural style and the cultural significance of the venue. A generic bronze template would have been immediately out of place in this context. Our designers studied the architectural language of the space and produced a plaque with a custom border, period-appropriate typography, and an antique finish that reads as designed rather than produced.

The dedication ceremony was a high-profile public event. The plaque needed to look exactly right under media and public scrutiny. It did.

1964 Alaska Air Guard
Crash Memorial, City of Valdez

City of Valdez, Alaska

The City of Valdez, Alaska commissioned a bronze memorial plaque to honor the members of the Alaska Air Guard who perished in a 1964 crash while on a relief mission for survivors of the Good Friday Earthquake.

This project carried the weight that memorial work always does: real names, real loss, and a community that would see this plaque every day for decades. The 3D PhotoRelief process allowed the designers to incorporate visual elements that communicated the mission and the sacrifice without reducing the memorial to a simple text listing.

The plaque was sized at 60×36 inches to provide appropriate visual scale for a public outdoor installation — large enough to command the space and convey the gravity of the event it memorializes.

A Belleair park installation
Municipal — Long-Term Partnership

Belleair Community Foundation
15-Year Municipal Partnership

Belleair Community Foundation — Belleair, FL

The Belleair Community Foundation has been ordering custom bronze plaques from Innovative Signs for over 15 years, with more than 100 individual signage pieces placed across the community’s parks, public spaces, and municipal installations.

This kind of long-term institutional relationship is only possible when the quality is consistent enough that a facilities manager or foundation director never has to wonder whether the next order will meet the standard of the last one. Plaques installed in Belleair parks 15 years ago still look as intentional as the day they were installed.

The foundation works directly with our designers on each project. No account managers, no handoffs, no renegotiating the relationship from scratch with each order. The institutional knowledge of what the Foundation needs and how their installations should look lives with the designer who has been handling the account.

Sports Dedication

Jim Davenport Field Dedication
San Francisco Giants

San Francisco Giants Organization — Phoenix, AZ

The San Francisco Giants organization commissioned Innovative Signs to produce the dedication plaque for Jim Davenport Field at their minor league facility in Phoenix — honoring the Giants legend who played 13 seasons for San Francisco.

Sports dedication plaques carry a specific visual expectation: they need to feel like a permanent part of the facility, not a certificate mounted on a wall. The 24×36 inch format provided scale appropriate for a stadium environment, and the 3D PhotoRelief portrait of Jim Davenport made the plaque recognizably personal rather than institutional.
