Engraved Bronze Memorial for Percy Heath
As visitors to Montauk Point Lighthouse discover every day, there was much more to jazz bassist Percy Heath than they ever knew. “This was one of my father’s favorite places on earth,” his son said. “I remember how we’d share lamps here while surfcasting in the dark. Now he can fish in peace.”

I really enjoyed creating this scene, knowing it was Percy’s favorite place to spend time. High-resolution photographs for both images helped them reproduce beautifully on the plaque.

Etched Zinc Plaque for Sarah Rose’s Garden at Ridge Wood Elementary
This small garden area outside Ridge Wood Elementary School is dedicated to former student Sarah Rose Girard. With the plaque in place, every teacher and student who visits discovers just how much Sarah meant to those who knew her.

This could have been just an all-text inscription, but adding the flower graphic as a tie-in to both the poem and the garden adds a certain charm to the whole presentation.

Engraved Bronze Memorial for Mark S. Malone
Mark built his own airplane and loved to fly it. “I can’t tell you how impressed I am with your ability to portray Mark just as we knew him to be,” his family wrote. “This has truly been a rewarding experience, and to have found professionals such as yourselves is a God-send.”

Mark built this plane himself, and loved to fly it, so I enjoyed creating this scene. We were able to depict one of his trips even though a matching photo had never actually been taken.

Etched Zinc Memorial for Cal Thomas Sutter
Cal was only 13 when he lost his battle with cancer. His family didn’t have to include his photo, but knowing how much he loved baseball, they included his full-color Little League portrait, adding depth and character to Cal’s story, and connecting visitors to the foundation created in his memory.

Engraved Bronze Memorial for Eric David Crane
Eric was a Junior ROTC Cadet Captain, and this plaque dedicates a rappel tower at Bandy’s High School, where he attended. An American flag was requested to reflect his patriotism and his greatest dream: to fly jets for the United States Air Force.

Framing Eric’s photo was partly the customer’s idea, and partly out of necessity, but I like the formal tone it gives his plaque. This plaque fits his character perfectly.
