Law firms were our first clients in 1984, and we still design attorney nameplates and entrance signs the same way: one designer, one project, start to finish. Here are all of the law office plaques we’ve built.
DuraBronze™ Attorney Sign — Meyer & Kerschner, Ltd.
This plaque features all custom-cut lettering, both raised and recessed, plus a full graphic reproduction of the firm’s logo. “The plaque fits in well with both the historical integrity of our building and the updated branding we have created,” said partner Karl C. Cast Bronze Law Sign — Joseph J. Archuleta and Associates
When Joseph Archuleta opened his own practice in Denver in 1992, he wanted an entrance that would say “this guy’s going to be here for a while.” “That’s why I chose the look of genuine cast bronze,” he later wrote. “It’s an investment that’s been paying off for well over 20 years.” Joseph still practices today — visit Archuleta.law to see the firm his plaque represents.

The use of different letter sizes throughout the inscription varies the emphasis on each element. Interchangeable nameplates allow future changes to individual names. — Bart
Etched Aluminum Legal Sign — Jones Snead Wertheim Wentworth Jaramillo
This firm took an entirely different approach, using acid-etched aluminum with lettering recessed deep into the metal, leaving the background a satin-brushed silver. Exposing this much of the metal’s surface creates an attractive appearance, especially against a contrasting mounting surface.

I like the way the firm name was left-justified, yet everything else was full-justified to a standard width. Combined with a plain edge and that horizontal line, it makes for a very professional appearance. — Lisa

No matter how nice a plaque design looks on paper, sizing and proportioning it to correctly fit its mounting location is just as important as the information it contains. Once mounted, a plaque should look as if it was meant to be there all along.

This firm was wise to put their areas of practice on interchangeable nameplates, since those tend to change over time. Street visibility was a requirement, so I designed a large plaque and kept “McGuire” on just one line. — Lisa

Home to a 2011 Georgia Super Lawyer and a partner named Georgia Rising Stars seven times combined, this firm chose DuraBronze™ for their office in the Garden Hills Historic District of Atlanta — the look of cast metal for about half the cost.

Cast Bronze Law Firm Sign — Osborn & Fox Co., L.P.A.
When daily exposure to your entrance is limited to foot traffic passing close by, a smaller plaque size can actually make a bigger first impression — sized and proportioned to comfortably fit the mounting space.

Arched text can work really well in certain situations, and this is definitely one of them. I also liked using a vertical orientation, because the whole inscription flowed so naturally in this format. — Bart

This is a classic law firm plaque, sized generously to serve a large firm with many practicing attorneys, all listed on interchangeable nameplates to keep the plaque current over time.

Notice the use of larger initial caps in the firm name, and a fairly large overall plaque size — both increase readability. With this many practicing attorneys, interchangeable nameplates were mandatory. — Bart
